Hello to fall! Wow, it’s definitely arrived. Trees everywhere are dropping leaves of all colors, making a colorful carpet for walking adventures!
Fall has always been a prelude to the Holiday Season for me. Halloween in a couple of weeks, a few weeks after that, Thanksgiving, and then, before we can blink, Christmas! Each year this exciting time seems to fly by faster and faster…
In preparation for this holiday season, and the tremendous amount of fabulous food that will be all around us, I am hosting a 7 Day Weight Loss Challenge for Women 50+ on Facebook next week. This will be an information packed challenge where you will learn not only what foods we need to eat after age 50, but when we need to eat them, as well as how to build lean muscle without going to the gym every day, and also how much our hormones affect weight loss. And we’re not just talking about estrogen, cortisol has a MUCH bigger influence on weight gain than most of us realize.
For instance, did you know that:
- WHEN you eat your daily protein affects your circadian rhythm, which affects your ability to sleep!
- Women, genetically, have more body fat and less muscle than men? (This affects basic metabolic rate, or, how many calories your body burns while at rest.)
- Cortisol, while necessary for optimum health, is not healthy in the amounts that many of us are releasing on a daily basis anymore. Cortisol is a fat storage hormone!
Did you know that you can re-wire your brain for weight loss success? Yes, really!

Meanwhile, to help you lower your cortisol level, here is a simple practice that you can load into your phone and have on hand for whenever you feel anxious or stressed. Keep that extra cortisol from becoming stored as belly fat!
I’m also asking for everyone to share their favorite holiday recipe with me. I’ll show you how you can make it taste just as good as you remember, with less sugar and with healthier fat! Share your recipes, and then, in a few weeks, I’ll share the revised recipes so that we can all try them!
And for our good news story this week, I’m very excited that Ford Motor Company has plans to increase its number of electric pick-up truck models! AND, these pickups are just as powerful as gas engine models for towing and carrying large loads, etc. This is great news and a sign that, at last, more companies are taking climate changes seriously!
