Have you ever wondered why the latest diets or work out plans just don’t work for you? You are not alone. Lots of us over the age of 50 are discouraged when attempting to figure out HOW to get back into shape. There is so much information about this work out, that work out, Keto diets, plant-based diets, and the list goes on and on. What’s a body to do?!
Well, the first thing I will say is something I’ve been saying for many years – everyBODY is different. There is no one plan or idea that will work for everyone. Some people are thriving on a Keto diet, for others this type of diet can lead to a loss of electrolytes such as sodium, magnesium, and potassium. This can make people prone to acute kidney disfunction, which can also put you at risk for an irregular heartbeat.
There are a lot of vegans out there who are quite healthy, but I have personally known some people who have become ill on a vegan diet. The thing with vegan, or any type of “diet,” is that you MUST do your research, and you must also know your own body well enough so that you can determine which is best for you. Our bodies need specific vitamins and minerals to survive, and B12 is one that is only found in animal protein. So, vegans need to take supplements.
If you’ve been reading my newsletters for a while, you’ve heard me talk about being the CEO of your own health. I have found that this is truly the only path to finding the best work out AND the best food for you. Notice I didn’t say the best diet. I don’t like the idea of a “diet plan.” Too many of us have tried so many of those that didn’t work, that we automatically have a negative emotion associated with “diets.” This, essentially makes it impossible to follow one, because, as new brain science has shown, our amazing brains will automatically steer us away from something that gives us a negative emotion. Hence, the difficulty you’ve had losing weight, no matter which “diet” you tried, is not your fault. You’re not weak, it’s nothing to do with willpower, and perhaps it’s time to toss that word out of your vocabulary.
Instead of trying another new “diet,” or going back to an old one that you lost weight with, but gained it all back again, are you ready for something different?
How about some personalized coaching? Meeting with someone who can help you design a way of eating the foods you like, combined with building lean muscle (lean muscle burns 12 times more calories than fat), feeling strong and healthy, and enjoying your life without any feelings of being deprived, and without guilt. Sound good?
Here’s what a few of my clients have said about personalized coaching:
Through use of the tools you’ve taught us, my daily life is enriched. I’m dealing more calmly with daily life stress, including a sometimes cantankerous elderly aunt. I’ve lost five pounds, and perhaps my most uplifting success, I’ve returned to playing the piano and even singing! I’d almost forgotten how much I enjoy both and how challenging and uplifting they are to me. In a nutshell, this coaching course is opening my life in a very positive way. I am enjoying a richer, more vibrant life than I knew was possible! Jeanne
What a joy working with you has been, Kathi. This program has given me so many tools to use on a daily basis, and I love the way you present them! I would never have imagined that I’d make my weight loss goal half way through the program and then be able to add on! Thank you. Judy
