You probably didn’t know that next week is National Capture the Sunset Week. Personally, I don’t believe anyone could actually capture something as beautiful as the sunset. Here in Otis, we have gorgeous sunsets every night all year long. I have attempted many times to photograph this natural beauty, but my pictures do not do Mother Nature justice…
I also see so many people that don’t take the time to look at the lovely art work that Mother Nature provides on a daily basis. Do you stop to take a few minutes each day to simply breathe deeply and look up at the sky? Or listen to the birdsong around you? Or notice the flowers in bloom, butterflies, insects, etc., all around you? Ned and I love looking at the stars and planets in the night sky; last month we saw the rings of Saturn and four of Jupiter’s moons through Ned’s telescope – it was awesome! Nothing brings a sense of the oneness of the universe than looking at something that’s 770 million miles away!!!!
Summer is a good time to stop and smell the roses, as they say. July is a lovely month, with plenty of flowers, birds, turkeys, bears, beaches, and mountains. Take the time to truly see what is around you, breathe the fresh air, let your body and mind relax fully and refresh your spirit! The definition of vacation is “a period of suspension of work or study to REST.” Make sure you rest and refresh your whole self this summer.
Let’s do something else fun – a contest! Everyone seems to enjoy them, and they can be tons of fun, so let’s do it. In honor of National Capture the Sunset Week, take a photo of your sunset and send it to me. Whomever comes up with the best sunset photo as determined by the judge I have chosen, will receive a signed copy of my bestselling book “STOP Back Pain!”
Email me your photos by Sunday, July 22nd, and I’ll announce the winner in my next newsletter.
Meanwhile, here is a video of another Yogic practice that helps restore and refresh your body, mind, and spirit!
Enjoy your summer!
Best of Health,
Kathi
