It’s not news that women over 50 don’t lose weight by starving ourselves with the latest diet. By this age, we’ve tried them all! Lots of us over the age of 50 have become discouraged when attempting to figure out HOW to get back into shape. There is so much mis-information on social media and in the news – try this workout or that workout, or Keto, or intermittent fasting, and the list goes on and on. What’s a body to do?!
The first thing I will say is something I’ve been saying for many years – every BODY is different. There is not one plan or idea that will work for everyone. Some people are thriving on a Keto diet, for others this type of diet can lead to a loss of electrolytes such as sodium, magnesium, and potassium. This can make you prone to kidney infections! Adding foods high in potassium like spinach, beans and potatoes (yes, I said potatoes) helps women have better heart health! If you like these foods – eat them! Just remember, everything in moderation!
If you’ve been reading my newsletters for a while, you’ve heard me talk about being the CEO of our own health. I have found that this is truly the only path to finding the best workout AND the best meal plan for each of us. Notice I didn’t say the best diet. I don’t like the idea of a “diet plan.” Too many of us have tried so many of those that didn’t work, that we automatically have a negative emotion associated with “diets.” This, essentially makes it impossible to follow one, because, as new brain science has shown, our amazing brains will automatically steer us away from something that gives us a negative emotion. Hence, the difficulty you’ve had losing weight, no matter which “diet” you tried, is not your fault. You’re not weak, it’s nothing to do with willpower, and perhaps it’s time to toss the word “diet” out of our vocabulary.
Are you ready for something different?
You’re in luck!
I’ll be running my 5 Day Weight Loss Challenge For Women again in a few weeks, and I’d love for you to sign up. We meet on Zoom for an hour a day for five days, and the Challenge is free! Because we meet via Zoom, anyone, anywhere can join us. Preregistration is OPEN!
During these five days together you’ll have the opportunity to design a food plan for yourself that is full of foods you love, is easy to prepare, and fun. You’ll learn how and why what you eat, and when, matters! Preparing meals ahead and stocking up your freezer is one of my best tools, and makes weekday meals a cinch!
You will understand soooooo much more about women’s health and how important our hormones are for sleeping better, gaining more energy, and, well, as much more as I can fit into our five day schedule!
Here’s what former participants have said about this challenge:
“What a joy working with you has been, Kathi. This program has given me so many tools to use on a daily basis, and I love the way you present them! I would never have imagined that I’d make my weight loss goals so quickly! Thank you.” Judy
“I was so confused about food – what is healthy, when to eat, how much protein to eat, etc. Kathi showed me how to make a healthy meal plan for ME! I feel so much better, my clothes fit better, inflammation has left my body and I sleep better too. I highly recommend Kathi’s programs!” Pam
“Before retiring from nursing, I spent 13 years on the evening shift, and it’s been so difficult to get to sleep at night since then. I’ve suffered from insomnia for years. NOT ANYMORE! I joined Kathi’s Weight Loss Challenge, not because I wanted to lose weight, but because she mentioned getting better sleep and, boy have I been! I followed all of Kathi’s advice on timing of meals, eating protein in the morning, etc., and now I sleep better than I have in years. I feel sooooo much better. Thank you, Kathi.” Andrea
If you, too, would like to understand how to lose that belly weight and begin to feel energized click here to join me for this challenge!
And please share this with anyone else that you think could benefit from better sleep, more energy and learning about meal planning!
For today’s good news report, here is a great story of one of our fellow retirees who came out of retirement so she could lifeguard at a local pool because there were no applicants! It’s never too late to make a difference…
Best of Health,
Kathi
