Do you take a magnesium supplement? If so, which one, and why?
If you tested low on Magnesium or Vit D or another supplement, did your doctor recommend that you take a supplement?
We’ve known for many years that magnesium is important for our hearts, but did you know it’s very important for the health of our bones, muscles, and brains?
It is!
Neurotransmitters are chemicals in our brains that transmit signals between neurons, allowing us to think, move, and feel. Neurons communicate with each other by releasing neurotransmitters into the tiny gap (synapse) between them – and then bind to receptors on the neighboring neuron. There are many types of neurotransmitters in the brain, each with its own specific functions and effects on our behavior and emotions. Some examples include dopamine, serotonin, and GABA.
When magnesium levels are low, it can lead to an imbalance in your neurotransmitters, resulting in feelings of anxiety, irritability, insomnia, and even depression.
So Magnesium is an invaluable mineral that plays an important role in muscle and nerve function, regulating blood sugar levels, and maintaining a healthy immune system. Despite its importance, a lot of us just aren’t getting enough of it. Some estimates suggest that more than 80% of Americans are magnesium deficient.
Some of this deficiency is due to the large amounts of processed food that many Americans eat. Also, over- farming has reduced the mineral content of the soil that our food grows in.
Twenty years ago, I recommended the magnesium powder called “Calm,” however, Calm was bought, a few years ago, by the Clorox company, and I no longer recommend it.
My long-time associate, Dr. Carolyn Dean, decided to formulate her own Magnesium supplement around that same time, and since she is the world’s leading expert on Magnesium, I now take her supplements.
For several years now, I’ve used her ReMag® lotion to reduce muscle cramps and since you rub it on the skin, it’s absorbed more quickly than anything that we digest, so I get faster relief. I also take her liquid ReMag® supplement, and have found it helps not only to prevent muscle cramps, but since I have been taking it, I don’t seem to have as many brain fog incidents. This is an important benefit for all of us over the age of 60!
It matters which magnesium supplement you take. Here’s why:
- Absorption – not all brands of magnesium maintain stability, because the ions bind together as a compound before full cellular saturation can occur, which means we don’t absorb the full amount.
- ReMag® Magnesium is formulated via a proprietary process to stabilize and maintain the stability of Magnesium ions in the picometer size. This allows full absorption at the cellular level. You can learn more on Dr. Dean’s website: rnareset.com
A few years back, I remember reading a report – maybe from consumer reports, where several different vitamins and minerals were tested from box stores, and they were found to have less of the amounts on the label due to sitting so long on the shelf. That will never be the case with Dr. Dean’s supplements as they are made to order and shipped right out.
If you want to switch your magnesium supplementation and feel the difference, I have included a QR Code below that will give you 10% off your first order of Carolyn’s ReMag®.
